Triumph

Photo101

My small triumph for today is getting outside for a 3 mile walk in the sunshine.  There were so many other things calling for my attention and energy – grading exams, grocery shopping, doing the wash – but ultimately I decided my health was the most important thing on the “To Do” list.  It was a mighty struggle but I’m so glad I made the effort.  It is a beautiful day and I feel great!

My walking path…

Photography 101 is now complete.  I’ve enjoyed the course and, even though I didn’t always have time to post new images, I benefited from the discipline of posting every day.  I look forward to getting back to a regular blogging schedule.  Up next: What I learned this past year (I just celebrated a birthday), what I’ve been reading lately, and travels plans for the summer.

Glass

Photo101

This  very long day has left me with no time or energy for photography.  I’m dipping into my archives once again to fulfill today’s assignment, Glass.  I don’t feel quite so bad about trolling previous work, though, because I really like this image and feel that is fits the theme well.  The white background is a piece of paper and I used indirect sunlight from a living room window for the light source.  I particularly like the shadow pattern created by the swirls of color in the paperweight.  What do you think?

Treasure

Photo101

For the Photo 101  prompt today, which is Treasure, I decided to go traditional route by photographing my wedding ring.  The ring is materially valuable but what it symbolizes is where the true treasure lies for me.  My wedding ring represents the most meaningful and important relationship of my life – my marriage to my best friend.

I learned a couple of things as I took the photos for today’s assignment:

  1. It is very difficult to take photos of your own hand.
  2. It is even more difficult to get a clear, close-up sparkly shot of diamonds on your own hand.
  3. A nosy cat, one of my fluffier treasures, makes everything 10x harder than it has to be…
